Don Mega

In November I had a chance to speak with an upcoming artist from New Jersey who is a triple threat performer, he sings/raps, dances, and produces.  An artist who brings a unique and creative style to the industry of music and entertainment the sky is the limit for Donelle Tynes.

Name: Donelle Tynes
Allies: Don Mega
Birthday: 05/06/1989
Birthplace: Jersey City NJ

B.Evans: How would you describe your music for the public audience if they have never seen you before?
DT: I would describe my music as completely my own, its alot of artist underground and mainstream I pull inflences from. But I also created my own style of sound. Alot of people in Greensboro NC say im the king of Pop Hop which is a combination of Pop, RnB and oldschool hip hop. The bigtime Producer "Dark Child" told me I was "New and Refreshing" and I think I agree exatly!

B.Evans: How long have you been performing live or making music?
DT: When I lived in new Jersey I began DJing at 14 and was introduced to the studio around 16, I wrote music for alot of Artist in NJ as well as in my family but began recording my own music at 17 yrs.

B.Evans: Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share
DT: I am a fulltime hip hop dancer at GSO university and i tie alot of that into my live shows.

B.Evans: What inspires you?
DT: People who think what im doing is so diffrent to a point that it will never work inspires me to do better because I am tired of these diffrent artist coming out sounding just like thier mentors or the hot thing out. Originality makes me work harder because I represent people in life that step outside the box and dare to be diffrent.

B.Evans: Who are your influences?
DT: A lot of my infleunces can vary from mainsteam artist such as Phareel Williams, Kanye west, Wayne, GagaLoo, Timberland and even Akon to English artist like Kano, JME and Craig David

B.Evans: Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?
DT: In 5 years I see my career defiantly broadening over the globe. I already have a huge respone via Internet and already am making a name for myself in NC. I make music for the love of it and would care less if i was signed to a major. Even though it would be a great accomplishment Im really into artist individual creativity and most labels create your image and that will be a big reason i will turn down a deal offer. But I defiantly see my music expanding globally unsigned, independant or whatever the case may be

B.Evans: What is your proudest achievement?
DT: My proudest achievement would have to be when me and a high school friend "Malik Leveridge" recorded a song in my closet entitled "Swag Destroyer". We entered it into a contest on BET.Com and won 1st place prize of 1000 dollars and they played it 3 times on Hot 97. We worked really hard putting that song together so hearing it on the radio let me know hard work pays off.

B.Evans: If you could who would you like to work with?
DT: If i could work with any artist, i would hands down work with Akon. I think his lyrics and creativity shines through to his music and I think everybody signed to his label is Dope

B.Evans: What future work do you have coming up in the near future?
DT: I also do photography, Model, and write my own screen shows. I have a big showcase in ATL in febuary and a lot of recording session from now and then. I want to realease a mixtape sometime in January. Photoshoots and new music is my main focus now

B.Evans: Do you have a website of any type?
DT: My twiiter is Twitter.com/Mega_Zombie
      Myspace.com/MegastarDon

Stay updated for new music, photos, And interviews with Donelle Tynes coming soon.

Stokes Of Genius

Name: Brian Whisnant
Birthday: November 23, 1988
Birthplace: Christiansburg, VA

In Salem Virginia resides an artist who is making a loud impression with his work. His pen is a brush, his notebook is a canvas, his words are the paint, and his song is the picture. This artist is painter and art maker Brian Whisnant. In an interview I asked Brian a few questions about his work and goals for the future here is what he had to say:

B.Evans: What do you use for inspiration?
BW: Everything inspires me somehow in my art, but music and nature are probably my biggest inspirations.

B.Evans: Who are your influences?
BW: Banksy and Shepard Fairy are probably my biggest influences. I really like the social messages and  vandal aspect of their art. The style and color Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky, and Egon Schiele influence me.

B.Evans: Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?
BW: If I can sustain myself on my artwork alone, that would be ideal, but hopefully in five years I'll have a career in the creative side of advertising and marketing with my own poster business selling prints of iconic pop figures on the side.

B.Evans: What is your proudest achievement?
BW: I've never felt prouder than after I finished my Lil Wayne painting. The reaction I received from the painting was amazing and it was the first time I though "Man, I can actually sell my work and make good money with it."

B.Evans: If you could who would you like to work with?
BW: If I could work with anyone it would be Andy Goldsworthy. I love how everything he does is in nature and so unconventional. You should check out his work. He goes out and makes art with nothing other than what he finds in nature.

B.Evans: What future work do you have coming up in the near future?
BW: Everyone tells me how I should show the portraits I do to the people I do them of. I took this idea and I'm doing a painting of Megan Fox in the hope that I can meet her and get her to sign it. As far as rappers go, I think the next person I'm going to paint is Snoop Dogg.

Below are samples of Brian's work as well as a link where you can purchase these paintings.  Stay updated for more of his work coming soon.
